Beschreibung
The book 'The End of War and the Beginning of Peace' is actually a daily chronicle by the author from 1945. The author pays the most attention to the bombing of Prague starting from February 14. He personally visited the bombed sites and detailed the affected buildings and, to some extent, the fates of those impacted. He vividly described the events in Prague from May 5 until liberation and beyond. The author walked through the streets of the city and recorded the moods, attitudes, and behaviors of the civilian population. This makes his book a valuable authentic testimony of those days. In the months following the liberation of Prague, the author captured the gradual restoration of the state from a political, economic, and social perspective. The data from this period is supported by numerous reports from the press, radio, and his own observations. The chronicle uniquely allows readers to form a vivid picture of how everyday life unfolded for ordinary citizens and the author's family. The text is accompanied by period photographs.
