Státní moc, politická správa a každodennost - Prosazování řízeného hospodářství v politickém okrese Kladno v protektorátu Čechy a Morava 1939–1945 – Vondráček Jan (2021)

After the establishment of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia in March 1939, a rationing system for food and other goods was gradually introduced, which had a fundamental impact on the livelihoods of the local population. Jan Vondráček describes, using the example of the political district of Kladno, the everyday perspective of the introduction of new laws, announcements, and government regulations carried out by officials at the lowest level. To this overview, he developed an innovative approach to make the chronological records of local administration accessible for research in the field of everyday history. The use of custom software, created specifically for working with this type of archival sources, allowed the author to incorporate all violations of valid regulations in the Kladno district into a digital database and subsequently link and compare them with many other sources. This made it possible to describe the complex history of the German occupation apparatus in the protectorate, particularly in the area of controlled economy. This study reveals the interrelationships between German and Czech actors, as well as their maneuvering space.
