Beschreibung
V. V. Mayakovsky, an author both glorified and condemned, favored yet almost forgotten: beneath layers of ideological ballast and prejudice lies one of the most original poets in the world, whose work has always attracted attention and often passion. A new translation of Mayakovsky's poems, which represent an emblematic part of his work and the genre to which the author repeatedly returns throughout his creative career, is now available to Czech readers after more than half a century. The translation is divided into two volumes, with the translators consciously altering the traditional division of these Mayakovsky poems (pre-revolutionary and post-revolutionary), including six 'intimate' poems (The Flute of the Spine, Cloud in Trousers, The Man, About This, War and the World, and I Love) in the first volume, while the second volume will contain the remaining poems, in which the Russian revolution truly speaks 'in full voice.'
