Beschreibung
Revolutionary discoveries in new scientific fields – nuclear physics and solid-state physics – found a response in Czechoslovakia in the early 1950s in the higher education of physicists and in the organization of physical research. Scientific work gradually became part of the activities of physicists at all Czech and Slovak universities focused on natural sciences or technology, and physicists were given the opportunity for professional application in new specialized academic and departmental research institutes. This monograph is dedicated to the achievements of our physical institutions in the second half of the 20th century and the personalities who contributed to them. Its content chronologically follows the publication by the authors Physics in the First Republic (Academia 2017).
