Beschreibung
In the autumn of 1824, law student Heinrich Heine broke free from the dull university routine in Göttingen and embarked on a walking journey through the central German Harz Mountains. This later resulted in Heine's first published prose and one of the most famous travel texts in German literature, "Journey Through the Harz." The enthusiasm for walking through the wild nature, social criticism, and the discovery of joy in "real" life still radiates from it today. The small work of the young poet foreshadows many aspects of his later creations, characterized by almost impressionistic immediacy and subjectivity, modern in its connection of personal and political, romantic and realistic, ironic and poetic elements. The text, which blends journalistic style with a supremely literary one, significantly influenced the form of the modern feuilleton.
