Beschreibung
The aim of the book is to familiarize readers with all kinds of amphibians and reptiles living in the Czech Republic and to show that they are unexpectedly beautiful and remarkable creatures that certainly deserve greater attention and maximum protection. The included photographs were selected to best capture the typical appearance and characteristic features of individual species. There are images showing the differences between males and females as well as distinctions between adults and young individuals. In the case of amphibians, pictures of their larvae are included. Special attention is given to variability and seasonal changes in coloration. Preference was given to photographs that depict individual species in the wild during their usual, but also less known, life expressions. The visual section is accompanied by detailed text summarizing current knowledge about the taxonomy, morphology, distribution, and biology of our species.
