Beschreibung
The work published in 1960 represents, and still represents today, one of the fundamental collections dedicated to the issue of fiction in literature and art. It contains carefully selected essays by leading world-renowned scholars dealing with the theory of fiction and narrative. The book is divided into six parts; alongside the last one, dedicated to evaluating Doležel's work in the context of international literary studies, it thematically addresses issues related to the relationship between fiction and philosophy, modelity, genre, and gender perspectives, the relationship between fiction and historicity, and poetics. The editors managed to engage a diverse range of prominent global figures (including Ruth Ronen, Nicholas Rescher, John Woods, Cesare Serge, Pierre Oullet, Uri Margolin, Didier Coste, Peter Steiner, Umberto Eco, Ladislav Matějka, Thomas Pavel, etc.).
