Plazi - Fauna ČR – Moravec JIří (2015)

The publication follows the previous volume from the Fauna series (Fauna ČSFR Reptiles – Reptilia, Academia 1992). However, it is a new compilation of available information on the reptile fauna in our country. The book summarizes the current knowledge about the taxonomy, morphology, and biology of all species of our reptiles. Emphasis is placed on gathering the maximum amount of data concerning reptile populations from the territory of the Czech Republic and interpreting it in the context of other information available from different parts of the distribution ranges of individual species. Specific morphological data from selected series of our reptiles stored in the collections of the National Museum in Prague are also included. Special attention is given to assessing the occurrence of reptiles in our territory and developing current distribution maps for all species. A separate chapter discusses non-native species of reptiles living in the Czech Republic. Characteristics of families and genera, as well as a key for identifying individual species, are also included. The book additionally provides the first comprehensive compilation of information on the parasites of our reptiles.
