Beschreibung
The aim of this book is to revive interest in the work of Professor Vladimír Tardy (1906–1987) from Charles University, a prominent Czech psychologist of the 20th century. The first part integrates Tardy's life story into the context of dramatic social changes in Central and Eastern Europe, which manifested in former Czechoslovakia through two waves of political repression. The following four parts are dedicated to Tardy's professional contributions in the fields of philosophy, personality psychology, the history of psychology, and graphology, including responses to his work. The authors drew from Tardy's published and unpublished studies, his diaries, personal correspondence, memoirs of contemporaries, and newly accessible archival materials. In the appendix, readers will find a complete bibliography of Tardy's work, including 130 reviews, a chronological overview of significant events in his life, and an interview with Docent Karel Balcar, who was both Tardy's student and collaborator.
