Beschreibung
This Czech-language travel book by Josef Donát presents a broad geographical journey from Europe to the southwestern United States and southern Africa, alongside an exceptionally wide span of time, from the Stone and Bronze Ages to May 2025. The author explains that he remembers his travels through images rather than diaries or notes, and these mental snapshots help him explore the remarkable past, fascinating and often contradictory present, and extraordinary beauty of the world. Several chapters reveal the mysteries and sometimes inexplicable remains of distant cultures, while others recount the lives of notable twentieth-century women, including Baroness Karen Blixen, known from the film Out of Africa, and Corinne Hofmann, the White Masai. The final chapter focuses on the beautiful children of Malawi, a beautiful and perhaps the poorest country in Africa.
