This German-language coursebook and workbook with audio CD is intended for adults and young people aged 16 and over in beginner-level courses worldwide. At level A1/2, it forms part of the six-volume Tangram aktuell series, which leads learners through levels A1, A2 and B1 and prepares them for the Start Deutsch 1 and 2 examinations and the Zertifikat Deutsch. It contains material for approximately 50–80 lessons. Authentic listening and reading texts, varied exercises and everyday language encourage creative engagement with the content, while strategies for listening, reading, speaking and writing are taught from the beginning. New grammatical structures are developed through guided self-discovery, and pronunciation and intonation are practised through imitative, cognitive and communicative activities, including songs, raps and rhymes. The workbook offers structure and vocabulary exercises, communicative and creative tasks, tests, self-evaluation based on the Common European Framework of Reference, and a learning-vocabulary overview at the end of each lesson.
