In a society hostile to diversity, mermaid princess Mio struggles to remain true to herself. She is betrothed to Prince Chika, whom she has never met and who does not know her secret: she is a mermaid. When her tutor Yuri takes her out of the castle to meet her subjects, Mio begins to accept her true self, but Yuri has a secret too. After Mio tells her father, the king, that she wants to live openly as a mermaid, he punishes her. The story also includes a bonus tale about a royal subject with wings.
