Choices Elementary Students´ Book – Harris Michael (2013)

This English students’ book contains 12 thematic modules for Pre-Intermediate and 10 thematic modules for Elementary and Upper Intermediate, each divided into Topic Talk, guided-choice networks combining functional language with vocabulary, Grammar Skills, Writing Workshop and Speaking Workshop. Units include a Text Builder for process writing, while Grammar Practice compares grammatical structures and trains students to choose the forms that best express particular meanings and intentions. A Language Review and Self Assessment section appears every second module, with revision exercises, answer checking and a feedback guide to help students choose what to practise further. Listening activities are available at two levels of difficulty, with slow and authentic speeds, and students can listen to the more difficult version after completing the easier one. Culture Choice provides six lessons at the back of the book, appearing every two units and including cultural content, literature, songs and projects. The back of the book also contains a Skills Builder with support for listening, reading, writing and communication strategies, optional Culture Choice lessons with texts, poems, songs and projects related to students’ own cultures, and a Language Choice booklet offering additional vocabulary and grammar practice with a reference section for each language point.
