The Robots of Dawn is part of Isaac Asimov’s Robot series, which ranges from the iconic collection I, Robot to four classic novels. The series establishes and tests the Three Laws of Robotics, which continue to influence the understanding and design of artificial intelligence. On Aurora, the first and greatest of the Spacer planets, Elijah Baley and R. Daneel Olivaw investigate another seemingly impossible crime: the destruction of the positronic mind of R. Jander Panell, a humanoid robot identical to Daneel. His creator, master roboticist Han Fastolfe, denies involvement, as does Gladia Delmarre, the robot’s owner and lover. Working at the centre of Spacer politics and civilisation, Baley and Daneel soon realise that their decisions will have profound consequences for relations between Earth and the Outer Worlds, and for humanity’s place in the galaxy.
