It is the year 1748, and an important event is approaching in Frankfurt am Main. Two foreigners arrive through the city gate, one of whom is Laurent, the immortal Count de Saint-Germain, and the other is a man whose presence no one would expect. Laurent's new friend and teacher is none other than Lucifer himself. He gives our hero a new identity and introduces him as Karl Johann Faust, a philosopher, scholar, and alchemist. Together with Lucifer, Laurent becomes the center of social life in the old imperial city, meeting the beautiful Margarete and succumbing to the charm of Elisabeth, married to the imperial councilor Johann Caspar Goethe. The author unfolds a historical and romantic fantasy populated by real historical figures as well as supernatural beings that influence the fates of real people. The loose continuation of Kristýna Frei's novel The Immortal Count tells the story of the parents of Johann Wolfgang Goethe and the characters that may have inspired one of the greatest authors of world literature to write his immortal work about Doctor Faust.
