Raühnval, a wealthy principality in the Eastern Alps. Young Marcus leads a privileged life as the son of the local feudal lord. Until the day a terrible massacre occurs, in which his entire family and the other inhabitants of the castle are slaughtered. Marcus survives thanks to the help of Eloisa, the midwife's daughter, and the simple villagers take him in. However, the cruel rule of the new prince soon leads Marcus to hatch a bold plan – he wants to fight for a free and just life not only for himself but for all the other serfs in the principality.
