Beschreibung
The historical novel takes us back to the time of the so-called War of the Queens – Elizabeth of the Přemyslids and her stepmother, Rejčka of Poland. Like every battle, this one is fought by all available means, including intrigue, poison, and betrayal. The chaotic situation is exploited by the Czech nobility to rebel against King John of Luxembourg; however, at a crucial moment, he abandons not only Elizabeth but also his country, leaving it at the mercy of the greed of the local nobility. By the queen's side stands the knight Matouš Rozoumek, who not only saves the life of the young prince Václav but also leads Elizabeth out of many dangerous situations. He himself must take care of his fiancée, who was kidnapped by unknown raiders during an attack on his native village...
