The Vignes sisters will always be as similar as two peas in a pod. However, after growing up in a small Black community and deciding to escape at the age of sixteen, their everyday lives differ not only in the mundane but in everything else: their family, the society they move in, and even their racial identity. Many years later, one of the sisters lives with her daughter in the same town she tried to escape from years ago. The other settles in a world of white people, and her husband knows nothing about her past. Despite the many kilometers and just as many lies that separate the sisters, their fates remain intertwined. What impact will it have on the next generation when their daughters' paths cross?
