SPIRITS OF THE BLUE LAGOON. The waters of the Pacific Ocean wash the shores of the islands that make up the Federated States of Micronesia. Today, we will visit Chuuk together, one of the largest and certainly the most populated local archipelagos. During World War II, the Truk Atoll here became the target of a massive air attack, after which one remarkable testament remains to this day – an interesting underwater museum. The bottom of the lagoon is covered with countless wrecks of planes and ships, and the exotic bay has therefore become a literal Mecca for divers, photographers, and naturalists in recent years. However, a serious question hangs over these ancient wrecks – they are slowly corroding in the salty sea water and are inevitably falling apart before our eyes. We will see how a team of Australian specialists examines them and attempts to save them. Together with them, we will take a close look at these underwater treasures.
