In the sparkling retro comedy Paper Moon, Ryan O'Neal and his daughter Tatum come together in front of the camera, with her first film role earning her an Oscar. O'Neal's elegant conman Moses Pray crosses Kansas during the Great Depression with a load of Bibles, offering them to trusting widows with a convincing smile. Accompanying him is nine-year-old orphan Addie, played by Tatum O'Neal, who shows the old fox a few tricks of her own. The original duo is later briefly joined by Madeline Kahn in the comedic role of neurotic Trixie Delight, who hopes in vain that Addie will eventually allow her to join her and Moses.
