The town of Dante's Peak lives a peaceful life as a rural community at the foot of the volcano of the same name. When scientists' instruments suddenly begin to record activity from the awakening volcano, no one takes them too seriously. The shock from the ensuing disaster is all the greater. Hot lava flows down the slope of the previously dormant mountain, and the air is filled with ash and stones. After an ignored warning, the day comes that will test not only the available technology but, above all, human characters...
