Everyone considers excellent firefighter and pilot Pete to be a reckless fool because he takes too many risks while fighting fires. He constantly argues with Dorinda about his reluctance to settle down and live a quiet family life as a training pilot. However, since he loves Dorinda, he eventually agrees to leave his risky job behind. He has one last mission ahead of him, fighting a major forest fire. When his friend Al gets into trouble during the operation, Pete saves him, unfortunately at the cost of his own life. However, an angel appears to him in the form of a woman dressed in white named Hap, who sends him back to Earth to lift the sadness of his love, Dorinda.
