In 2003, a parasitic fungus devastates the planet, turning people into violent predators known as the infected. Twenty years later, seasoned survivor Joel (Pedro Pascal) is hired by a group of rebel fighters to smuggle fourteen-year-old Ellie (Bella Ramsey) out of a repressive quarantine zone. What begins as a quick and simple job soon turns into a brutal and dark journey across post-apocalyptic America, where Joel and Ellie must rely solely on each other.
