After returning from prison, Jake Blues visits the house where he and his brother Elwood were once raised by nuns. Here, they face a clear decision: they have only eleven days to raise $5,000 for the church. Therefore, Jake and Elwood decide to reunite their former blues band. This sets off a whirlwind of crazy antics and chases with the cops on their tail. Their plans to raise the money are constantly disrupted by someone, and the brothers also manage to antagonize nearly everyone... The story, which combines musical comedy with the action genre, is famous for two major car chases. The lead roles are played by stars Dan Aykroyd, John Belushi, and John Candy. Alongside The Blues Brothers Band, we find guest appearances from well-known figures in the film world (Steven Spielberg, John Lee Hooker, Twiggy, Frank Oz, Steve Lawrence, and Paul Reubens). This film is followed by the loose sequel Blues Brothers 2000.
