Beschreibung
"The painted bird tried in vain to convince its fellow tribesmen that it was one of them." In the first weeks of World War II, in the autumn of 1939, the parents of their six-year-old boy sent him from a large city in Eastern Europe to safety in a remote village. During the occupation and the chaos of war, as the population was constantly shifting, the parents lost contact with the person who found their child a temporary home in the village. Meanwhile, the boy's foster mother died, and the abandoned child wandered alone from village to village. Sometimes people provided him shelter, other times they chased him away... The film adaptation (directed by Václav Marhoul, 2019) of the novel will enter Czech cinemas on September 12, 2019.
