We are losing the external landscape. Does this mean that something is happening to the internal landscape as well...? It is no coincidence that it is said that a person's inner self is best reflected in the view from their bedroom window. And in this regard, our prospects are not exactly flattering – years of indifference to the landscape of home have often resulted in a clear degradation of its spirit. A collection of essays by geologist Václav Cílek about the beauties of the Czech basin, which only seemingly slumbers beneath layers of ancient mountain-building dramas, stands out for its softness of words and sacredness of experience, revealing connections and aphoristic insights from a pilgrim who, on his journey, did what we all do while walking with concentration: he radiated the best of himself.
