In Reykjavik, a young woman has been murdered, but the perpetrator had no idea that throughout the brutal act, the victim's seven-year-old daughter was hiding under the bed. The official investigation is led by young detective Huldar, who must collaborate with psychologist Freyja, tasked with interviewing the little witness. However, their search is complicated by the fact that they spent a night together some time ago without contacting each other afterward. But there is no time for animosity – the killer continues to murder and leaves behind seemingly nonsensical clues: numerical sequences, warning SMS messages, and mysterious calculations scribbled on scraps of paper.
