How can we know what is best for others when we are lying to ourselves? Ten-year-old Viktor goes from trouble to trouble at school. His mother Hana is a theater actress who is struggling to cope with him. However, when she receives an offer to shoot a series, she sees it as a possible resolution to the situation. She moves her troublesome son to his grandmother's house in the countryside — the change of environment will do the boy good, and her widowed mother won't be alone. Each of the participants has quite different ideas about how their lives should look.
