Beschreibung
It has been said since ancient times that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. But was this the case with the sons of our greatest ruler, Charles IV? For example, with his firstborn? Did he at least somewhat follow in the footsteps of his strong, capable ruler father? Or was he a weak monarch, tossed about by events he could not confront? Did he have any merits for the flourishing of the Czech Kingdom, or did he lead it only into the abyss of confusion and ruin? It is known that Charles IV's eldest son, Václav, preferred to escape from his duties to his castles and would rather hunt or drink than rule. How did Václav perceive himself and his reign? Did he ever compare his actions to those of Emperor Charles – and if so, was he able to learn from mistakes? Today we know that order, law, and the firm hand of the ruler – all of this disappeared with the last moments of the empress. Certainly, for a while, the kingdom continued to live on inertia, but soon the entire kingdom, and of course the Roman Empire, began to feel the lack of a confident and principled government. Did Václav want and could he prevent this? Who put obstacles in his way? His incompetence, or his opponents? Participants: Marek Holý and Jiří Dvořák.
