This inhuman place turns people into monsters. The Overlook Mountain Hotel is located in the most picturesque corner of Colorado and especially in winter, it gives an impression of tranquility. Wendy Torrance longs not only to rest there but also to improve her strained family relationships. In contrast, her husband Jack, a failed teacher and untreated alcoholic, took the job of off-season caretaker of this facility as an opportunity to escape his life's misfortunes. Neither of them would have thought of the horrors their five-year-old 'enlightened' son Danny would have to face here, where dead guests, shooting mobsters, and animated garden decorations appear in the empty rooms. Is pure evil lurking here just for them? Perhaps, although even their predecessors did not fare well at this gloomy station… The novel was adapted into a film in 1980 by director Stanley Kubrick, starring Jack Nicholson.
