Humanity faces the threat of a third attack from alien forces, whose previous invasions were barely repelled thanks to the interventions of the brilliant commander Mazer Rackham. The army recognizes the necessity of training his successor, who might avert disaster. A suitable candidate seems to be a boy named Ender, endowed with above-average intelligence and analytical thinking skills.
