A past darker and feelings deeper than the bog hiding a corpse. Former police detective Fin Macleod has left his life in Edinburgh and is returning to his native island, where he tries to mend broken relationships and repair the dilapidated house left by his parents. Meanwhile, the local police discover the body of a murdered young man in the bog on the Isle of Lewis, who, according to DNA tests, is related to the father of Fin's childhood love, Marsaili Macdonald. However, Tormod Macdonald, now a frail man suffering from dementia, has claimed his entire life that he has no relatives. And should they have remained buried in the swamp? The audiobook, narrated by Jiří Dvořák, whose captivating voice can vividly convey the thrilling search for truth as well as the subjective retrospective, also features original musical accompaniment. This illustrates the intertwining of past and present by incorporating motifs of traditional Scottish music in a modern interpretation, creating a gloomy yet enchanting atmosphere of the Outer Hebrides that is so striking it sends chills down your spine.
