They joined forces with the aim of writing an original crime novel, a series of books that would bring new elements to classic Nordic detective fiction. According to the response from readers around the world, they succeeded. The first novel, The Hypnotist, became an international bestseller, and its film adaptation was taken on by the well-known director Lasse Hallström.
