Description: The utopian RUR (Rossum's Universal Robots) is the third play by Karel Čapek, preceded by the comedies Lásky hra osudná and Loupežník. At the same time, he was also working with his brother on the comedy Ze života hmyzu. According to his own words, Karel Čapek got the idea for the utopian drama while writing Mravenci and conceived the Robots. RUR was completed in 1920, when it was also published for the first time. It premiered at the National Theatre on January 25, 1921. Even before that (January 2 and 3, 1921), it was performed by the amateur group Jednota divadelních ochotníků Klicpera in Hradec Králové.
