Beschreibung
The new stories by Michal Viewegh (and one play) are united by an apparently sarcastic, yet in reality rather melancholic atmosphere of a challenging life period. The writer's ever-changing alter ego experiences divorce and bitter post-breakup encounters, as well as disbelief and fear as a relationship heads toward a breakup. The author captures snippets from lives where love once flourished in the past but is now irretrievably gone, with a mournful cynicism that occasionally poses as heroism but reveals fatigue and disillusionment. Viewegh's stories are not cheerful reading, but they are all the more truthful.
