Beschreibung
One evening, in the distant 1880s, a fairy tale was born that waited more than a century for its discovery. At that time, in a Paris hotel, Mark Twain was chatting with his daughters when they urged him to tell a fairy tale. So the now world-famous author reached for one of the picture magazines he had on hand and was inspired to create a story about a poor and brave boy named Johnny, who understands the language of animals and is not afraid to stand up to the king himself. However, the story remained unfinished and hidden in the archives for decades – until recently, when Philip Stead discovered the manuscript and creatively and respectfully completed the story to a fairy tale ending. The book is accompanied by beautiful illustrations by the acclaimed artist Erin Stead, and the published edition of the rediscovered manuscript is considered a literary event of the year in Twain's homeland.
