The third album of the Prague Big Band led by Milan Svoboda, Poste restante, from 1982 contains nine original compositions from members and collaborators of the orchestra. The typical sound of the orchestra is complemented by successful solos from Michal Gera, Rudolf Ticháček, or guest Jiří Stivín, as well as Emil Viklický, who took over the keyboards from the bandleader. Contemporary reviews praised not only the sound, the solos, Skalník's cover, but also the internal dramaturgy of the album, arranging the tracks in a way that creates contrasting and interesting musical landscapes, so different from the gray, muddy textures often found in jazz recordings. The reissue of Poste restante is being released after nearly forty years and for the first time at home on compact disc, as German fans have had it available on CD since 1993.
