In 1975, the band Extempore was one of the most prominent representatives of Czech rock. Its members knew that in such difficult times, it made no sense to pursue a professional career, so they played in small clubs, albeit legally. That year, they prepared two full-length composed shows: in the spring of 1975, 'The Funeral of the Undertaker' (Galén, 2016), and in the autumn, 'Asbestos Goulash.' The songs of singer and guitarist Jaroslav Jeroným Neduhy clearly drew from blues and folk, but were distinguished by numerous instrumental passages featuring the imaginative, sonically rich guitar of Jiří Hradec, which he modified himself and equipped with a range of rarely heard effects. The drummer Vlastimil Marek brought new conceptual impulses to the band, while Jaroslav Tomášek played the bass guitar. The recording was a popular title in samizdat distribution, and is now being released on compact disc for the first time, with carefully cleaned sound and extensive original text.
