The second album by Vladimír Merta, a significant figure in our urban songwriting scene, has an interesting fate. His first record, which he recorded while studying in Paris in 1968, was smuggled home. He approached the offer to release his second (first domestic) album carefully, selecting 11 songs and recording them in February 1970. The shocked lyrics committee immediately ordered the deletion of the first song, 'Nebylo mrtvých a není raněných,' which reacted to the August events. Then the title of the album, 'Pravda o Marii,' was banned, and the record was to be sold only under the author's name, but within a few days, the entire album was completely banned and the recording destroyed. A smuggled low-quality copy circulated among fans for years. After more than 40 years, the original tape was found, and the album is now being released in the form intended by the author, with many songs having long since attained legendary status: 'Písmenková láska,' 'Uplakaná Země paní Pampelišky,' 'Jano! Jano! Jano!,' 'Dobrodruh,' 'Pravda o Marii...'
