The year is 1616, and opponents of Louis XIII are vying for his throne. However, the young king finds an undaunted protector in the knight de Capestang (Jean Marais), known by the nickname Captain. This renowned swordsman, victor of countless skirmishes and tournaments, stands up to the intrigues of the all-powerful cardinal, thus winning not only the favor of the royal court but also the love of a beautiful dark-haired woman who saved his life during a sword fight. One of the prominent roles is played by the popular comedian Bourvil, so the film promises not only adventure and romance but also a good dose of humor.
