Životice: a small village in the heart of Cieszyn Silesia. After Munich, it was occupied by Poland, and after September 1, 1939, it became part of the Reich as a conquered territory. ************** On the night of August 4-5, 1944, partisans shot three members of the Gestapo in a tavern in Životice. This was followed by a tragic morning on August 6, during which the Gestapo murdered 36 men from Životice and the surrounding area. Karin Lednická creates a vivid picture of the tragedy itself, reconstructing the events that preceded it and those that followed. For the executions did not end anything.
