A harrowing look into the depths of a woman Leda is a divorced professor of English literature. She has two adult daughters who have gone to Canada to be with their father, and she can finally enjoy the summer without work or family obligations. On the beach by the sea, she meets a Neapolitan family, so similar to the one she comes from. She is particularly drawn to a young woman with a three-year-old daughter. Their mutual relationship, the way they talk and play together, evokes memories in her of her own childhood, adolescence, and motherhood.
