Beschreibung

One of the most famous and frequently performed works of Nordic drama comes from the pen of Henrik Ibsen. His Nora, sometimes performed under the title A Doll's House, caused a great stir after its premiere in 1880 in Oslo, especially among conservative audiences. Since then, it has regularly appeared on theater stages around the world. The term 'doll' or 'puppet' is quite an accurate description of Nora Helmer as we see her at the beginning of the play. She is a somewhat naive woman, devoted to her husband Torvald, who enjoys playing with his 'doll' and raising her. This is how their marriage has functioned for years. The plot of the play begins to unfold at the time when Torvald is promoted to the position of bank director. Upon taking this position, he wants to make some personnel changes. One of them is the dismissal of a certain Krogstad due to his past transgressions involving forgery. It is from Krogstad that Nora secretly borrowed money years ago. The debt is almost paid off. But Krogstad is fiercely fighting for his position... The seemingly idyllic marriage of Helmer and Nora is gradually revealed in all its grotesqueness. We witness a constant balancing act on the edge of what can still be considered normal and what cannot...
