The Crown of Ashes is a strategic worker placement game full of territorial battles for 1 to 4 players. The king, fearing for his power, turned his barons against each other and drove the land into complete decline. During peace negotiations, the king offered the barons a potion of a century-long sleep, during which the land would recover and there would once again be something and someone to rule over. But that was another lie. After a century of agony and the most terrifying nightmares, the barons awaken. During their torment, however, they gained something the king did not anticipate: an insatiable thirst for power and knowledge of necromancy. This granted them the ability to raise armies from the graves after the first war. These undead will clash in this second devastating war and decide which of the barons will wear the Crown of Ashes at its end. Players take on the roles of vengeful necromancers and send their loyal minions where needed: they gather resources necessary for building additional armies. They construct mighty buildings that generate more resources and influence in the kingdom. They lead armies of the undead into battles to seize control of buildings and provinces, or defend their own with all their might.
