The Cure is an English alternative rock band formed in 1976 by singer and guitarist Robert Smith in Crawley, West Sussex. Throughout its existence, the band has undergone many lineup changes, and its current frontman Smith is its only permanent member. The band's musical career began with the album Three Imaginary Boys, which, along with its first singles, placed the band among the post-punk movements and the new wave generation that led to the punk rock revolution in the United Kingdom.
