This 180-gram LP presents Bára Basiková and Precedens’s breakthrough 1988 album, a landmark of 1980s music built around a synth sound and a powerful voice. Founded in 1982, Precedens passed through several stages before arriving at this debut album in its classic lineup. After dark singer-songwriter material with Jan “Sahara” Hedl and the intellectual irony of Lumír Tuček, bandleader Martin Němec fully embraced synthesizers alongside Bára Basiková. The group’s original club appearances developed into major concerts, where atmospheric music was enhanced by visual elements and many themes reached pop appeal without calculated effort. Songs such as “Černá bohyně,” “Doba ledová” and “Dívčí válka” achieved unconventional hit popularity. With its doubled keyboards, the lineup created an almost neo-romantic synth atmosphere without losing the role of the guitar. Martin Němec’s music and lyrics were given a dramatically compelling interpretation by Bára Basiková, then and now one of the most important female voices on the Czech music scene.
