Greenhorns ´71 & bonusy - CD

This CD presents the Greenhorns’ debut album, filled with country hits, together with 15 bonus tracks from albums released between 1967 and 1970. The reissue commemorates the band’s important place in the history of Czech country music, as well as the undying legacy of Jana Vyčítala and Michal Tučný. By this time, the band had accumulated extensive experience and a large repertoire, turning its first long-playing release into a collection of hits. Its best-known line-up featured singers including Tučný, Hoffmann and Linka, alongside outstanding instrumentalists such as Vyčítal, Šimek, Čermák, Štýbr, Dobeš, Král and Hnyk. Although their later paths diverged, the essence remained the same: excellent music. The repertoire consists entirely of adapted songs, given a local character by lyricists from the Greenhorns, particularly Vyčítal, as well as Hoffmann and Čermák. The album includes such memorable numbers as “Blues Folsomské věznice” (“Folsom Prison Blues”), “Oranžový expres” (“Orange Blossom Special”), “Blízko Little Bighornu” (“Jim Bridger Story”) and “Když náš táta hrál” (“When Papa Played the Dobro”). The bonus tracks add further legendary songs to this portrait of a celebrated period in the country and western scene. Their melodies, lyrics, singers and musicians form part of the memories of those who lived through that era, as well as of listeners who still enjoy hearing and singing them around a campfire.
