Synopsis
In an old tenement building, the Nováks and the Bartáčeks have been neighbors for years. The Nováks enjoy showing off in front of the other tenants and never miss a chance to outsmart the Bartáčeks. The old tenement provides them with plenty of opportunities for their cunning schemes. Both couples constantly play games with each other. Mrs. Nováková claims to be going to a beauty salon, but she's actually applying for a cleaning job. Mr. Bartáček pretends to be a company director but is only a warehouse clerk. Their mutual pranks eventually escalate into open warfare. An attempt at a truce, declared after their old building is demolished, and both families are given apartments in a housing estate, is short-lived. The couples are assigned apartments next to each other. And the long-standing carousel of mischief starts all over again.
