Yaya and Paya / Jaja a Paja 2x DVD
Synopsis
The first seven episodes of the beloved puppet series were aired for young TV viewers back in 1987. At that time, children warmly welcomed the two little boys, their Grandpa Lebeda, and the greedy neighbor Krkovička. The animated puppets created by artist Jan Tippmann pleasantly surprised the audience, and the simple stories with their gentle moral lessons captivated them. By 1998, additional episodes and a new character, cousin Míla, were introduced, making the twenty-six-episode series a success on Czech Television. The series was given its distinctive style by director Lubomír Beneš, who unfortunately passed away during production. Animator František Váša took over the direction with valuable supervisory contributions from Břetislav Pojar. The literary scripts were written by Stanislav Havelka, Petr Chvojka, Lubomír Beneš, and later Marek Beneš. These creators managed to develop characters with distinct personalities, such as the small and somewhat clumsy Jája or the thoughtful Grandpa Lebeda, a former sailor. However, the most distinct character is the miser Krkovička, whom the trio always outsmarts with their wit and skills. The narrators, of which there were three in total—František Filipovský, Petr Haničinec, and Václav Postránecký—significantly contributed to the series' success.
