Bring home the classic taste of Slovak and Czech cuisine with this traditional dry mix for halušky. In just minutes you can make soft, chewy potato-style dumplings (gnocchi) that work as a hearty main dish or a versatile side. Serve them the traditional way with bryndza and bacon, turn them into strapačky with sauerkraut, or try sweet toppings for a comforting twist.
Preparation Instructions:
1. Mix the contents of the packet with 250 ml of cold water, knead well, and let rest for 5 minutes.
2. Press the dough through a halušky sieve into boiling, unsalted water, and cook for about 1 minute (until they float to the surface).
3. Drain the halušky, rinse them with cold water, and toss them with oil to prevent sticking.
4. Serving suggestions: Mix with fried bacon and top with bryndza cheese or curd. Also delicious as strapačky with sauerkraut.
